Former Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard, 26, has come under fire from social media users for his performance in Hollyoaks alongside brother Curtis, 25, who hinted he needs acting lessons. The comments come after the pair were slammed for their debut performance in the Channel 4 drama earlier this year.

The former Strictly star posted a snap of himself enjoying dinner at The Rooftop in central London last night.

Dressed in a dark blazer and crisp white shirt, the dance pro grinned into the camera, drink in hand.

He simply captioned the picture: “The view #epic”, before tagging the restaurant.

While most comments were from kind fans wishing the actor a happy Friday and complimenting him on his hair, some social media users took the opportunity to be less than kind about his appearance in Hollyoaks.

One wrote: “Love your acting in Hollyoaks”, followed by four laughing face emojis.

Another social media user, who didn’t have a profile picture, added: “U are such a good actor teach me.” (sic)

A third penned: “AJ and Curtis must have been Pinocchio in a past life – because their acting are as wooden as a marionette!”

However, fans of the show rushed to AJ and his brother’s defence, revealing that they enjoyed the casting decision.

“Can’t stop watching these two on hollyoaks. Perfection”, one wrote.

Another said: “Why does everyone hate Curtis and AJ they are so much fun.”

In the Channel 4 favourite soap, AJ and Curtis play on-screen brothers Marco and Jacob.

During the short time they appear on screen, it appears they have dark intentions for dance teacher Trish Minniver (played by Denise Welch), who Marco is an assistant for.

In a clip from Curtis’ debut episode, the duo meet in a children’s park where they discuss the dance teacher.

After Marco tells him that Trish is “heartbroken”, Jacob replies that it has “made his day.”

Marco continues darkly: “It’ll be nothing compared to what we’ve got planned for her.”

After a social media user posted a clip of the short exchange on Twitter, fans responded with horror to the pairs acting.

“It’s almost hypnotic,” one wrote of the short scene.

“Omg my fence is less wooden than these two,” penned another.

In March last year AJ announced that he had made the decision to leave BBC show Strictly Come Dancing after three years to “follow his dreams” and “work alongside his brother Curtis.”

Later in the year he went on to star in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
