Alice Cooper Reveals Pastor Convinced Him To Maintain Alter Ego

Alice Cooper revealed during a recent interview with pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie that his pastor convinced him to maintain his alter ego.

Cooper recalled the moment he was recovering from drug addiction and felt like abandoning his alter ego, and contemplated changing his name after he came to faith in Christ.

Cooper said that he went to his pastor and said, “I think I’ve gotta quit being Alice Cooper now.’

He added that the pastor replied, “Look where he put you. What if you’re Alice Cooper, but what if you’re now following Christ? And you’re a rock star, but you don’t live the rock-star life. Your lifestyle is now your testimony.'”

Cooper, whose father was a preacher and his grandfather an evangelist, has been a devout Christian for many years and dedicated his life to Christ after he quit drinking and drugging in the ’80s, with the help of his wife Sheryl.
