Alison Hammond says she’s ‘finally ready’ to get married in candid confession
Alison Hammond has opened up about her romantic life and said she would be ready to settle down if Mr Right came along.
This Morning star Alison has always kept that part of her life private but shared all during a podcast with Gyles Brandreth.
In their chat, Alison claimed that previously, whenever she heard the word marriage she would get cold feet but now feels she is ready to settle down.
Alison, 48, is currently single, but over the years of her being in the spotlight plenty of speculation has arisen over her love life.
The TV star was engaged to cab driver Noureddine Boufaied, who is the father of her child Aiden, 18.
However, she stated that she was not ready for marriage at the time and the pair have since split.
Alison then went onto date Ben Hawkins, a landscape gardener who she hired for a job.
But, again, this relationship broke down after two years.
In her chat with Gyles, Alison said: "I think that’s why I struggle in relationships, because I don’t want somebody around me all the time. I absolutely love being on my own. I’m OK with it. I’ve never felt lonely.
"I think as soon as I hear the word marriage I get cold feet. I think I'm just one of those people.
"I always – not think there's something better – but I always get a bit nervous to know that is it. I just feel like I'm tied down and I don't like it, when really and truly, I'm getting to that age now where I think Alison, let go – it's OK to settle down."
Alison also went into detail about how people have mistakenly said she has been engaged in the past.
She revealed that people thought she had once been married to her son's dad which left her having to clarify the situation on an episode of This Morning.
Her co-host Dermot O'Leary once said during an episode of This Morning: "I hear a congratulations are in order, someone is getting married."
But in response, Alison clarified: "Cut the music! I'm not engaged, I'm so sorry I'm not engaged!
"I told you, if I was ever to get engaged or get married I would be the first person to tell you! I'd put all over Instagram and TikTok!"
She went onto say the marriage rumour was just fake news.
