A Star Is Born actor Bradley Cooper has broken his silence on the romance rumours surrounding himself and Lady Gaga three years after the release of the hit movie and their intimate on-stage debut. The duo starred in the 2018 remake of the hit 1954 film and it wasn’t long before rumours of an off-screen romance between the pair began to swirl.

For the first time, father-of-one Bradley has now addressed speculation about his relationship with the award-winning singer.

In 2019, the duo performed a rendition of the movie’s hit song, Shallow, at the Oscars.

Sitting next to each other on a piano stool, the pair sent sparks flying with their emotional performance, which prompted romance rumours to swirl.

However, Bradley himself has now explained why it was that his and Lady Gaga’s performance was so intimate.

The Hangover actor had “fears about singing live” and had decided to overcome his anxieties by performing the number in a way that reflected the hit film.

Addressing the logistics of the performance, Bradley said: “Just from a personal standpoint, it reduces the anxiety level.”

Speaking about their onscreen characters Jack and Ally, the star explained: “They kind of fall in love in that scene in the film.

“It’s that explosive moment that happens to them on a stage in front of thousands of people.”

He went on to add that a more conventional set up would have appeared odd.

“It would have been so weird if we were both on stools facing the audience,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

A year after the movie was released, Lady Gaga spoke out about whether her and Bradley had been romantically involved.

Speaking about the on-screen romance, she told Jimmy Kimmel: “Yes, people saw love and—guess what—that’s what we wanted you to see.”

Cooper went on to reveal how much he enjoyed working with the superstar despite casting choices facing backlash from critics.

He said: “A Star Is Born is such a specific thing, and there was always a meta element to the project.

‘She’s just so terribly charismatic and beautiful.

“When I met her, I thought, ‘If I can just harness that… then it’s just for me to mess up.’

“But then, when we started working together, I realised, ‘Oh, oh, the sky’s the limit in terms of what she’s able to do and her commitment level,'” Bradley added.

Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, has now landed the starring role in a new blockbuster.

The American actress is starring in the new House of Gucci movie which is set for release on November 26.

In the film, the actress stars as Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani, who marries Maurizio Gucci.
