David Walliams’ model ex wife Lara Stone, 38, became engaged to her boyfriend property developer David Grievson, last year and is said to be enjoying the fact it’s not in the public eye. The pair met via dating app Tinder in 2018 and announced their exiting news at the Gymkhana VIP dinner in Mayfair, where the Vogue cover star brandished a spectacular diamond ring.
It was just so bewildering and terrifying
Following the news, the Daily Mail claimed a source had told them that Lara wasn’t too comfortable with how much they were in the spotlight during her marriage with Walliams, who is set to appear on The Masked Dancer as a guest this evening.
The insider said: “She is very happy with David [Grievson].
“And she loves that he’s not in the public eye like her ex was.”
They added: “She didn’t enjoy that aspect of their relationship.”
Lara and David began to date in 2009 and announced their engagement just four months later.
They wed at prestigious London hotel Claridge’s, and had a star-studded guest list which included Walliams’ Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas, Denise Van Outen, Richard and Judy, Sir Elton John, Stephen Fry and Tom Ford.
They couple announced Lara’s pregnancy in December 2012, and welcomed now eight-year-old son Alfie in May 2013.
Back in 2015, Lara reflected on their split where she touched on the fact she was never comfortable with the level of fame that came with being romantically involved with the famous star.
“Sometimes really different people work together — but maybe not for ever,” she said.
She also explained that he could make her laugh and be mean but “in a good way”.
Lara recalled: “I’d been at his [Walliams] house and was walking back to the tube and this car was driving next to me and they were taking pictures the whole time.
“It was just so bewildering and terrifying.”
Last year, the pair both shared a very rare glimpse of their son, after remaining fiercely private about their family life.
The model took to Instagram in celebration of her birthday, where she posted a snapshot showing Alfie sat on her knee in front of a cake he had made.
Although she had covered his face with a love heart eye emoji, fans were over the moon at the rare insight.
David too, posted a rare sentiment about the eight-year-old, as he spoke about their time together in isolation.
“I’m looking after my son and homeschooling which has been fun,” he penned.
“I only have one child, and he’s seven years old so I probably have it easier than lots of [other] parents […] but I’ve really enjoyed it.”
The Masked Dancer airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
