Emma Stone postpones wedding with days to go amid coronavirus pandemic

Emma Stone has had to call off her wedding this weekend amid fears about the coronavirus.

The Hollywood star, 31, was due to marry fiancé Dave McCary in Los Angeles over the weekend, but the pair have decided to postpone their nuptials indefinitely.

It comes as countries around the world step up their responses to the pandemic, which has seen more than 7,500 people die from the lower respiratory virus.

According to Page Six, Emma and her 34-year-old beau now have to hold off on tying the knot, and no doubt will have been frantically trying to contact all their guests this week so let them know.

Oscar-winning actress Emma and former Saturday Night Live segment director Dave had kept the details of their luxe wedding secret – not even giving away the location on their wedding invitations.

They're yet to set a new date, as public health advice in the US – as in the rest of the world – is changing by the hour.

The secretive couple only went public with their engagement in December, when Dave shared a snap of him cuddling up with Emma, who was wearing an enormous square-cut diamond ring on her left hand.

They first met in 2016 when she hosted Saturday Night Live, where he was writing and producing, and dated on a low-key basis for months until they were spotted leaving the premiere for his film Brigsby Bear in June 2017.

In May the following year, the pair were hit by split rumours when Emma was spotted dining with her ex, Andrew Garfield, with witnesses suggesting they looked as though they were getting back together. But she and Dave were later spotted reunited at a roller-skating party in December 2018, and again backstage at a Golden Globes afterparty in January 2019.

They made their first red carpet debut at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where they posed for pictures with Bradley Cooper, and appeared together at the Oscars where Dave grinned during Emma's Best Supporting Actress presentation.

With no new wedding date yet set in stone, let's hope these two lovebirds find a way to get married as soon as possible.
