General Hospital star Steve Burton separates from pregnant wife saying: The child is not mine
Steve Burton has announced he is separating from his pregnant wife of 23 years, who is currently expecting a child.
The General Hospital star, 51, announced his and Sheree Gustin's split in a dramatic Instagram post which also stated the baby she's expecting is not his.
Steve, who shared his post on Wednesday 4 May, played the role of Jason Morgan on the soap opera General Hospital for two decades up to 2021. He has asked for privacy as his family come to terms with the separation.
Taking to Instagram, Steve said: "I wanted to clear something up, Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her fourth child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve."
Steve and Sheree, 45, are parents to three children Makena, 18, Jack, 16, and Brooklyn, seven and the actor shared that they will continue to co-parent despite the split.
It is not known when the couple separated and Steve has requested privacy during the separation, Sheree has not yet publicly posted any more information about the split.
The couple wed in 1999 and Sheree works as a nutrition and fitness trainer.
The fitness instructor's recent social media posts have been about her business and she rarely strays into sharing details about her private life.
In her most recent post about her children, Sheree shared a picture of herself with seven year old Brooklyn, adding the caption: "Love her so much! So full of life, joy, some sass and compassion for everyone.
"The other day she said to me 'I choose to be happy, because there’s always something to be grateful for'. I think we can all learn from our kids and enjoy the little things we sometimes take for granted. #dontworrybehappy."
Steve's Instagram account is a mixture of images of himself and his children and the star's social media feed is noticeably void of images of his wife Sheree.
Steve also recently hit headlines when after he left the soap opera over his refusal to have a Covid-19 vaccinations, and amid an application for medical exemption.
He shared the news on Instagram, with a post that said: "I wanted you to hear it from me personally. Unfortunately, General Hospital has let me go because of the vaccine mandate. I did apply for my medical and religious exemptions, and both of those were denied. Which, you know, hurts.
"But this is also about personal freedom to me. I don’t think anybody should lose their livelihood over this."
