Helen Flanagan’s little ones – Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, one – with her ex-fiance Scott Sinclair looked incredible. The trio looked adorable in their costumes with her eldest going as Wednesday Addams and her middle daughter dressing up as Spiderman. Her youngest, Charlie, channelled Stick Man from the Julia Donaldson book.

World Book Day is a registered charity that aims to give every child and young person a book of their own, with youngsters dressing up as their favourite characters.

The day celebrates the work of authors, illustrators and reading in general.

Many famous faces have taken part in the big day, with their parents showing off their phenomenal outfits online.

Boris Johnson’s son Wilfred, two, was seen sporting an adorable dinosaur costume as he posed holding The Dinosaur That Pooped Easter children’s book.

Boris Johnson’s youngest, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson looked adorable for World Book Day as he wore a dinosaur costume. In the cute picture, the toddler could be seen posting in the red outfit, along with a copy of the book, The Dinosaur That Pooped Easter.

Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden pulled out all the stops for his children’s costumes

The actor took to Instagram to show his steps in making his children’s World Book Day costumes. Fans were amazed by the final product as his children dressed as characters Mr Tickle and Mr Bump from the Mr Men franchise. Ace, however, was dressed in something different, with Matthew admitting he “didn’t make” that one.

Myleene Klass took to Instagram to share a reel of herself getting her youngest Apollo ready for World Book Day. Myleene covered her son in green makeup and finished off the outfit with a dinosaur onesie. She captioned the happy video: “Happy #worldbookday #dinosaur Beastie boys meets TRex vibes.”

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh admitted World Book Day

Kimberley Walsh shared pictures of her two children’s World Book Day outfits but admitted she had to make do as the day “crept” up on her. She captioned the Instagram post: “Needless to say World book day crept up on us again but thankfully the school wanted everyone to be sustainable and work with what we had at home so that’s what we did. Bobby rocking his fave suit as the ‘Accidental Secret Agent by Tom McLaughlin’ (with an actual spy camera pen he already had). Cole the old ‘Cops and Robbers’ by Janet & Allan Ahlberg. All was well until Bobby freaked out about not having his curls seconds before he went into school.”

David Walliams’ son went as a character from one of his father’s books

David Walliams’ son Alfred opted to go as Spaceboy, a character from one of his dad’s books. The former Britain’s Got Talent judge shared a series of pictures to Instagram of himself walking with his son to school in the silver costume.

It wasn’t only children who dressed up for World Book Day

Amanda Holden dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz as she arrived at Heart Breakfast for her radio show this morning. Her Heart FM co-host Jamie Theakston impressed as the Tin Man, while Ashley Roberts was The Cowardly Lion for World Book Day 2023.
