Joe Swash, 38, has revealed that he has been making up for lost time with his 13-year-old son Harry while chatting on Dave Berry’s Dadpod on Thursday. The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! champion said that the pair have now become close once more after spending a lot more time together recently.
I didn’t get to see him
Reflecting on fatherhood, Joe said: “With my first child, Harry, there was a period where mine and Harry’s mum’s relationship affected my relationship with him.
“I didn’t get to see him for a period of time, so I missed out on quite a lot.
“Now, me and my son Hal, we spent all the time together,” he added.
The TV presenter says his eldest son is now like his “shadow”, as he detailed their renewed bond.
Joe continued: “He’s, like, my shadow. I love him, but there was a period where I just couldn’t see this happening in the future.
“So, I did miss out quite a lot of Hal growing up, as a baby.”
Joe and Emma dated from 2005 to 2008 before going their separate ways following a short-lived engagement.
The pair eventually ended up in court over custody of Harry, and Joe remarked previously that it was the “best money he’s ever spent”.
Joe shared that Harry had always supported him when he starred on Dancing On Ice earlier this year.
Joe gushed that the youngster had been “to every single show” and was “so proud”.
He said: “It was the first time really that I’d done anything, and him being of the age where I can see him being proud of his dad.
“So, it just filled me with so much joy and recently, I done the voice of one of Thomas the Tank Engine’s friends and my little Rex was watching it, and he definitely noticed.”(sic)

Joe admitted that his greatest wish was for his sons to be proud of him.
He added: “So, yeah, it’s lovely. I really hope they are proud. I hope they don’t get embarrassed, you know what I mean, because there are a few things out there that could be embarrassing.”
The former EastEnders star also shares one-year-old Rex with partner Stacey Solomon.
The pair have been dating since 2016 and reside in Essex alongside Stacey’s two sons from previous relationships.
The Loose Women panellist was moved to tears by her boyfriend’s kindness as he tucked her into bed earlier this week with her favourite chocolate following a tough few days.
“Joe decided to surprise me with some treats and he made the bed (terribly but it’s the thought that counts),” Stacey shared on Instagram.
“I love him so much… Having a little sniffle.
“(Actual sob) I’m going to try and have an early night. I haven’t slept since Tuesday night.”
