Kate Middleton has written a “deeply personal and heartfelt letter” to the family of Sarah Everard, it’s reported.

Sarah Everard’s body was found a week after the 33 year old went missing in Clapham, south London on 3 March.

The Duchess of Cambridge Kate, 39, previously lived less than three miles from Clapham, in a flat in Chelsea with her younger sister Pippa, before she married Prince William.

Kate is reported to have written an emotional letter to Sarah’s grieving family, with a source telling The Mirror: “This was a deeply personal and heartfelt letter, simply to express her absolute sadness at what Sarah’s family and loved ones are going through.

"The Duchess knows that no words can change what has happened, but wanted to let them know that they and Sarah are in her thoughts.

“She remembers what it is like to walk alone as a young woman in London, and elsewhere, and like so many other women she has been thinking deeply about her experiences during those times.

“It was important for her to pay her respects in this way.

"This was a private matter to her and she wanted to show unity with everyone else who shares these feelings.”

Kate previously paid her respects to Sarah as she attended the memorial for her at Clapham Common, as the impact of her tragic death sent shockwaves around the country.

Kate was seen laying flowers at the Clapham Common bandstand as she discreetly joined mourners gathering to pay their respects to Sarah.

A royal source told ITV's royal editor Chris Ship at the time: "Kate used to remember what it felt like waking around London at night before she was married and the death of #SarahEverard had moved her.

"It was a private visit and Kate laid flowers from the garden at Kensington."
