Louise Redknapp teases new music is all about ‘tough’ marriage split from Jamie

Louise Redknapp admits she is singing about her split from ex-husband Jamie in her new music.

Now the former Eternal star says she is looking for love again, two years on from her divorce to the football pundit.

The 44-year-old's new release Lead Me On takes fans inside the rocky late stages of their relationship.

The lyrics "I want to know, what makes you think that you're allowed to treat me so unkindly – why do you lead me on?" got people talking.

Louise has opened up about the meaning behind the words.

The former golden couple tied the knot in 1998 but the strain became too much and in January 2018 they divorced after 20 years together. It has never been revealed what caused the sudden split.

"I put my personal feelings into it but I don't want to bring anyone down or be negative," she said. "It's impossible at my age not to draw upon personal experiences anyway, when making new music.

"I have just used certain elements of the past couple of years in a creative environment, not a negative one

"I'm confident that it won't be dishonourable or unkind and it's not negative about anyone," Louise told MailOnline .

"I wouldn't try and set tongues wagging to sell a few more records. I make music because I love to.

"It got me through a time that was really a tough time in my life."
