Love Islands Jay Younger backs Ekin-Su and Davide to win despite awkward drama

Jay Younger has expressed his hopes for Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti to win the 2022 series of Love Island, despite the awkward blip they had between them.

The 28 year old bombshell, who was dumped from the Majorcan villa in mid-July, opened up on his thoughts about the finale episode next week in an exclusive chat with OK! magazine at the National Reality TV Awards UK 2022.

Reality star Jay explained that he thinks Davide and Ekin-Su, both 27, have a real chance of winning as they're a "genuine" couple and "such good people".

"I love Ekin and Davide, they're such good people," Jay told OK! on the red carpet before reflecting on his own time in the villa.

Jay made his grand entrance as a bombshell and soon got cracking with Ekin-Su, which was cemented with an iconic terrace scene that saw the Turkish actress crawling across the floor before the pair shared a kiss.

Ekin-Su and the Scottish hunk soon recoupled, but shortly after this Jay realised he was also attracted to Paige Thorne, 24, who was coupled up with Jacques O'Neill, 23, at the time.

Friction led to Jay and Ekin-Su splitting up, with the blonde beauty then turning her attention back to Davide. Since then, their relationship has gone from strength to strength.

Speaking of his actions, Jay went on to tell OK!: "I think because at the start moved so fast with Ekin, I overlooked everything and before I knew it, it was too late to go back.

"I found myself in that kind of zone and then Paige developed with Jacques… and I was just lie, 'What do I do?'"

Jay added that he's really looking forward to catching up with Davide as they were "really good mates" in there and insisted that he and Ekin-Su are "always cool".

While the Italian Stallion and Ekin-Su are finally back on track and better than ever, having just professed their love for one another, their fellow Islanders gave them the most votes for being the least compatible couple.

Going off in their pairs, the Islanders were informed that they could not consult with anyone but their partner as they went off to discuss their options.

It was during this time that Luca Bish took a dig at Ekin-Su and Davide as he didn’t appear to be totally convinced about their feelings for one another.

Appearing to make a dig at the pair, Luca said to Gemma Owen while they made their decision: “I love them both as people, but as a couple, I just don’t buy it."

Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack chatted about Ekin-Su sand Davide as well. “They argue about the most silliest things… and it blows up,” Dami said.

Agreeing, Indiyah added: “In here things are heightened, but what’s happened here, compared to what can happen on the outside, is miniscule.”

By the end of the episode, it was revealed that Ekin-Su and Davide – despite being firm favourites with viewers at home – had received a total of four votes.
