Miley Cyrus Hit "Party in the U.S.A." Has Returned to the Charts
After eight months (or four years … ) of doom and gloom in America, the mood is shifting and the music charts are proof.
Just hours after Joe Biden was named president-elect and Kamala Harris vice president-elect, Chart Data reported that Miley Cyrus’s certified 2009 banger (and American classic) “Party in the U.S.A.” had re-entered the top 200 on iTunes.
Cyrus, too, used the track to celebrate on social media. “Now THIS is a PARTY IN THE USA!” she tweeted, sharing an edited video splicing Biden playing the track on his phone, Harris dancing with a group of children, and Donald Trump rushing off stage.
The song factored into many an outdoor celebration after the call was made, with videos of crowds singing along in N.Y.C., D.C., Atlanta, and beyond circulating on social media.
Interestingly, “Party in the U.S.A.” wasn’t the only single to make a comeback over the weekend. *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” also returned to the charts.
