Pop legend and Celebrity Big Brother star Leo Sayer marries partner after 38 years together

Leo Sayer and Donatella Piccinetti are married.

The newlyweds, who have been together for almost four decades, said their ‘I dos’ last weekend in an intimate ceremony in their back garden.

Celebrity Big Brother star Leo, 74, announced the news of their nuptials on Instagram.

Sharing an upclose photo of his and Donatella’s hands boasting wedding bands, Leo wrote: “This past weekend was truly a dream…

“After being partners for almost 39 years, Donatella Piccinetti and Leo Sayer got married in their garden in the Southern Highlands on Saturday 15th of April. It was a very private ceremony where the couple were joined by 40 of their closest friends. There was a reception lunch held afterwards at the famous Magpie Restaurant in Berrima."

“The weather was sunny, the bride was radiant, the groom looked handsome and they couldn’t be happier with how the day went," the post concluded.

Born in Britain, Leo has been an Australian citizen since 2009 after relocating to the sunny country after meeting Donatella.

Before his relationship with his now-wife, the 70s star was married to Janice Lissester. They called time on the marriage after 12 years and divorced in 1985.

Fans have since rushed to send the Celebrity Big Brother favourite and Donatella their congratulations.

“Congratulations… there is nothing wrong with taking your time to marry the right person… these things you want to get right!” wrote one.

“Congratulations guys! So happy for you,” said another, while a third penned: “Such lovely news! Congratulations to you both. Wishing you many more happy years together, and your health to enjoy them."

“How wonderful. Congratulations!” echoed a fourth.

Singer-songwriter Leo topped the charts in the 1970s with hits including the Grammy-winning track You Make Me Feel Like Dancing and When I Need You.

He later entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2007, where he famously escaped the property.

Leo starred on one of the most famous series of the show alongside the likes of Shilpa Shetty, Jo O’Meara and the late Jade Goody.

Reflecting on his time on the show, Leo told The Scottish Sun last year: “I broke out of there because it was a horrible experience and I still don’t know why I ever agreed to do it.

“But I’d rather be recognised for my songs and I still tour because I enjoy it. All I want to do is be on stage. I love to entertain.”
