Prince Estate Shares Previously Unheard ‘I Need A Man’

The Prince estate shared a previously unheard track, “I Need a Man,” on Thursday, September 17.

The funky song was recorded on January 22, 1987, by engineer Susan Rogers. The song was recorded for an unrealized Bonnie Raitt collaboration. Raitt did not to use the track and “I Need a Man” was placed in the archive.

The song will be part of the upcoming reissue of Sign O’ the Times, due out on September 25, via the Prince Estate in partnership with Warner Records.

The Super Deluxe edition reissue will feature 63 previously unreleased tracks, as well as a previously unreleased 2+ hour live performance video.

Prince’s estate previously released three other songs from the upcoming Sign O’ the Times reissue, including “Cosmic Day”, “Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1)” and a never-before-released 1979 version of “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man.”
