Rachel Stevens says shes not ready to start dating as she discusses painful split
S Club 7 member Rachel Stevens has insisted she's "not ready" to start dating again as she opened up about her "painful" marriage split.
Last summer, Rachel, 44, announced that she and her husband of almost 13 years Alex Bourne had decided to split, just a month before they were due to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.
At the time, she told her Instagram followers: "While we are no longer partners in marriage, we will remain partners in parenthood to our beautiful girls and continue with love and respect for each other."
She concluded: "I feel so incredibly grateful for the life we built together and will now continue to be focused on moving forward united as a family."
Opening up about the split in a new interview with The Sun, Rachel revealed that she has recently moved into a new place with her two daughters.
Talking about her split, she told the publication: "It’s very hard to articulate the feelings, because there are so many. It’s been really painful, really sad. It’s been the biggest decision to make in our lives, obviously, with our kids."
When asked if she's been asked out since her split, Rachel said: "Yeah, there’s been a few [offers to take her out]. But no, I’m not ready to start dating. I’ve got enough going on for now. But I love love. I’m the soppiest person. We should be happy to be in love and deserve all the great things in life."
Starting again as a single mum after more than a decade, Rachel is now trying to embrace new beginnings.
She recently moved out of the family’s north London home into a new place with her daughters, admitting that she had been "drowning in boxes" and a "mix of emotions".
"It’s my place with the girls. That feels empowering. We’re creating a home, which is wonderful, but there are so many feelings around it. Mainly good, but also scary,” she told the publication.
It comes as a source close to the singer previously told OK! that the newly announced reunion of S Club 7 will be seen as opening a "new chapter" in her life.
"She had a tough time following the breakdown of her marriage and has been focusing on being a mum, so she’s excited to be going back to music," they claimed. "This will give her a purpose. She needs something to focus on to keep herself busy."
Our source continued to say that they believe the S Club 7 reunion tour could not have come at a better time for Rachel.
They said: "She’s determined to get back to what she loves doing and find her identity again. She loves her music and it’s been a long time coming, so she’s really excited about this new start in her life.
"It’s a big year for Rachel and she couldn’t be happier."
