Report: Robert Downey Jr. Pays for Armie Hammers Rehab Stint Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor, who was accused of sexual misconduct, assault and cannibalism by various women, completed his stay at Florida treatment center The Guest House last December.
AceShowbiz -Details about Armie Hammer‘s six-month rehab stay amid a series of serious allegations made against him are here. According to Vanity Fair, Robert Downey Jr. was there to help him as he paid for the “Call Me by Your Name” actor’s stint.
A source told the news outlet that in addition to paying for the stint, Robert, who used to have his own issues with addiction, provided Armie with financial help after he left the facility. Armie, who was accused of sexual misconduct, assault and cannibalism by various women, completed his stay at Florida treatment center The Guest House last December.
The news arrived after it was reported that Armie was working as concierge at a hotel resort in the Cayman Islands, but an employee of Morritt’s Resort confirmed to Variety that a flyer that circulating online was created for a prank. A more recent report, on the other hand, stated that the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer is actually working as a timeshare salesman at a hotel in the Caymans to support his two children with ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers.
“He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle,” the source said. “The reality is he’s totally broke, and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family.” Before selling timeshares, Armie allegedly managed an apartment complex in the Cayman Islands.
In response to the report, Armie’s lawyer said in a statement, “I can’t confirm or deny the report because Armie hasn’t addressed it. I just think it’s s***ty that, if he is selling timeshares, the media is shaming him for having a ‘normal job.’ “
As to why Robert helped Armie, it’s probably because the latter’s controversy hit too close to home for him. Throughout the ’90s and early ’00s, the Iron Man depicter repeatedly made headlines for his multiple arrests on drug charges before he declared that he had been drug-free since 2003. The “Avengers: Endgame” star shared that Mel Gibson, who has had plenty of his own controversies, helped him out during the difficult time in his life.
