Sheridan Smiths jewellery stolen from trailer of new drama by gang of thieves

Sheridan Smith has been targeted by a gang of thieves on the set of her latest drama.

The actress, 40 is believed to be 'very upset' after all of her jewellery was stolen from her trailer on set of Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything.

Thieves took off with Sheridan's bracelets, rings and necklaces in the robbery.

The Gavin and Stacey actress was reportedly targeted by a gang known as The Movie Takers, who have carried out other raids and robbery's on major TV and film productions.

The Sun reported that police were called out to the set in South West London on Thursday night after Sheridan's trailer was found ransacked.

A source told the publication: "This was a very upsetting incident and everyone involved is shocked — but Sheridan is understandably very hurt.

"Fortunately, it wasn’t hugely expensive items, more day-to-day things, but she had left them in her trailer for safety while filming in character and came back to find the place had been turned over.

"It’s absolutely disgraceful that these people would do this."

A Met Police spokesman said: "The offence happened at about 11.50pm on May 5. Items of jewellery were stolen from trailers in Surbiton.

"There have been no arrests, inquiries continue."

Sheridan's new Sky sitcom is set to hit TV screens this winter.

Playing the lead role, Rosie, the show will mark the return to comedy for the actress who is most known for her appearances in Gavin and Stacey, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and The Royle Family.

She has become a household favourite over the years, taking on roles in more hard-hitting dramas such as The Teacher, No Return, The Moorside, as well as playing Cilla in the TV biopic.

Sheridan has also had a successful, highly acclaimed stage career.

The actress' new show sees her play the lead role of character Rosie.

Her character is a troubled woman who is suffering from anxiety and depression and is trying to free herself from booze, drug and sex addictions.

The 40 year old is also playing Annie in the new film The Railway Children Return, the long-awaited sequel to the 1970 classic.

The film, which was filmed in Yorkshire, is set for release on July 15
