Taylor Swift Donates $13,000 To 2 Mothers Struggling Financially Amid Pandemic
Taylor Swift donated $13,000 to two mothers who have been struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 30-year-old singer was inspired by a story published by The Washington Post about Nashville native Nikki Cornwell and Shelbie Selewski from Harrison Township, Michigan. The money will go to each of the two moms’ GoFundMe campaign pages.
“Its been rough because I’m not the only person looking for work. My family would appreciate any help this holiday. I am definitely praying for miracles. God bless everyone,” Cornwell wrote on her fundraising page.
Taylor responded by saying, “Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love.”
Selewski shared that she lost her job and had to stay home with her young daughter who was born with a collapsed lung last year and was hospitalized for two months.
Replying, Taylor said, “Shelbie, I’m sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that’s been put on you.”
