Foodies rush to buy huge branded family meal that’s scanning for 99p at the till – but there’s a problem | The Sun

MONEY-SAVING foodies are going wild after spotting a ready-made family meal that costs under a quid – but there's a catch.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to soar, millions of cash-strapped Britons are on the lookout for ways to slash the expenses and find food on the cheap.

So when one shopper, Vicky Harvey, from Huddersfield, said she had found a cheap meal that will feed a family-of-four, the news were more than welcome on Facebook.

Pleased with her affordable buy, Vicky headed to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group to show what she had nabbed.

According to Vicky, who loves pets, she was strolling around a supermarket when she stumbled across a sausage and tomato pasta bake by Richmond.

The packaging, the post revealed, stated it was enough for four hungry eaters and the dish would be ready in 55 minutes in the oven.

But at first, the price – 99p – seemed too good to be true, so Vicky headed to the till and enquired about the deal with an employee of the store.

There, however, it was quickly confirmed that the price tag was correct and the delicious meal was indeed just 99p.

Vicky, of course, didn't think twice and nabbed a box – however, the pasta bake, social media users soon learned, came with a little problem.

The bargain deal was only available at Farmfoods, a popular discount store that only has a couple of locations across the UK.

This makes Farmoods – and the cheap bake – less accessible for many Britons.

But whilst many on social media looked past this fact, there was another issue concerning some foodies – the long cooking time.

Others who had tried the dish also claimed the pasta bake wasn't particularly delicious either, with one writing: ''It’s not very nice.''
