I’m a divorce lawyer and you should never feel ‘lucky’ to be a stay-at-home mum
SPEAKING from experience, one divorce lawyer explains why you should not feel "lucky" to be a stay at home mum or have a hubby who pays for your lifestyle.
The woman said that when many women marry a man who wants to take care of all their finances and give up their job, they should think twice.
Taking to her TikTok account, the American lawyer said that half of the marriages in the country are not working out.
She explained that if women give up work, and want to leave the marriage, they could end up stuck due to their finances.
Posting under the domain @jettiegirl28 , the lawyer posted while answering the trendy question "Whats' an opinion you have that might trigger someone."
"I'm about to trigger some of you girls that have been posting these videos about being lucky and getting to marry somebody that will let you stay home and travel and be a stay at home mom," she said.

Adding: "I'm a divorce lawyer, and let me tell you, unfortunately, half of the marriages in this country are not working out, and what happens, with women like you that are so lucky, is that as soon as there is a problem in the marriage, you don't have the ability to leave."
The lawyer says that it is not just yourself that you will struggle to support, but also any children you might have.
"You don't have the ability to support yourself, you don't have the ability to leave if you want to, and a lot of times alimony and child support are not sufficient for you to continue living the way that you are," she said.
Adding: "In fact, that is the case, the vast majority of the time. So when you're considering yourself lucky, maybe you wanna be stacking away some Kroger gift cards, because if your marriage doesn't work out – you're gonna need them."
The woman finishes off by saying that it is important for women to be able to look after themselves should the marriage end.
"Maybe, think about how to take care of yourself. Good advice" said the lawyer.
The post has received over 951k views and many TikTok users have been quick to comment
"Housewives have been triggered" commented one person.
Another said: "Thank you! One of the worst things a woman can do is be totally independent on a man."
"My grandma always told me, no matter how much he loves you, have your own money" commented a third.
