Meghan Markle had plans for her own charitable foundation focusing on women’s issues before marrying Harry – The Sun

MEGHAN Markle had grand plans to create her own charitable foundation, focusing on girls and women's issues, even before marrying Prince Harry.

The former US actress, 37, shelved the plans when she moved to Britain to live with the Duke of Sussex, 34, as well as deleting her lifestyle blog The Tig and social media accounts.

But the idea could be revived in the wake of the Fab Four charity split, which follows rumours of a rift between the two couples, according to the Mail on Sunday.

"She is somebody who has been involved with women's causes since she was young," a friend of Meghan told the Mail.

"This isn't new, it's something that has always driven her, from long before she met Harry."

The Duchess of Sussex became the UN's Advocate for Women's Political Participation and Leadership in 2015.

Sources believe the Sussex's new foundation will champion causes like sexual violence, female education and have a US wing like The Royal Foundation.

The Royal Foundation, set up by Harry and Prince William in 2009, focused on mental health, wildlife conservation and supporting the armed forces and young people.

Harry's Invictus Games and the Heads Together mental health campaign were both established by the foundation.

THE Royal Foundation was established in September 2009 to help Prince William and Prince Harry support their charitable ambitions.

It was intended that the Foundation would be used as the main channel of supporting their charitable grants.

Kate Middleton joined in 2011 and Meghan Markle followed suit when she married Harry in May 2019.

The First Royal Foundation Forum was held in Feburary 2018 with William, Catherine, Harry and Meghan Markle in attendance.

Meghan and Harry, who became parents to Archie last month, recently left Kate Middleton and Wills' home Kensington Palace to move to Windsor's Frogmore Cottage – sparking an office divide.

Palace aides denied the foundation split was caused by a falling out between the Fab Four.

Yesterday a royal source claimed Meghan and Harry had moved away from Kensington Palace to "maximise their potential".
