Meghan Markle made a subtle tribute to Princess Diana at her wedding with this ring

Meghan Markle is the wife of Prince Harry, 34, and mum of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, three months. She became a full-time member of the Royal Family after her wedding on 19 May 2018, which took place at Windsor Castle. For the big day, the Duchess borrowed the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara from the Queen and it was estimated to cost up to £2 million. However, she also made a subtle gestures to Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, at her wedding with her choice of ring.

Prince Harry chose a trilogy engagement ring for Meghan, with a centre stone from Botswana and two diamonds on either side which came from his late mother Princess Diana’s jewellery collection.

When Prince Harry proposed to Meghan, he gave her a custom-made ring he had designed himself.

Eddie LeVian, CEO of jewellers Le Vian, said: “Prince Harry chose a trilogy engagement ring for Meghan, with a centre stone from Botswana and two diamonds on either side which came from his late mother Princess Diana’s jewellery collection.

“In this way he created a new jewel with a beautiful sense of history.

“The trilogy ring, otherwise known as a three stone ring, is designed to be classic, timeless and symbolic of the past, present and future within an engagement ring.

“By incorporating something from his mother, Harry not only captured part of his past to celebrate his present but also to pass part of his history to the future.”

After the service at her wedding, Meghan changed from her Givenchy gown into a high neck reception dress which was designed by Stella McCartney.

The Duchess of Sussex also added a ring which gave a nod to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.

Meghan wore a aquamarine cocktail ring for the wedding reception which had previously been worn by the Princess of Wales.

Princess Diana had the ring as part of a jewellery set with a matching pearl bracelet and earrings.

Like most royal brides, Meghan also gave a nod to the Royal Family by wearing a tiara from the Queen’s collection.

Meghan picked the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara which has not been worn in public very often.

Shortly after her wedding Meghan announced her pregnancy and she has stayed quiet since giving birth in May.

Meghan and Harry have recently taken Archie on his first holiday and they have travelled to Ibiza and France.

It was reported they have hired their third nanny since his birth, but how does this turnover compare to other royals?

Kate Middleton has had the same nanny for her children for the last five years.
