Balding OAP left in tears after new hair leaves her ‘looking 20 years younger’
A pensioner whose balding hair left her “too embarrassed to look in the mirror” was reduced to tears by her incredible new barnet.
Brenda Vickers’ receding hairline left her self-confidence was at an all-time low after 20 years of dodging photos and mirrors.
The 78-year-old eventually decided to take action and visited hair replacement firm Novo Cabelo – who have gone viral in the past for their incredible work – to get her mojo back.
In a video shared to TikTok, Novo Cabelo owner Rob wood can be seen attaching a £350 “hair system”, which is made with real hairs.
When blindfolded Brenda sees the finished work she can’t help but tear up and ask: “Have I got all this hair?”
More than 500,000 people have watched the footage, with many also finding it emotional and claiming her new appearance has made her look 20 years younger.
Brenda, who suffers from coeliac, has admitted the transformation will boost her confidence to visit the shops more often.
The pensioner, from Walkergate, Newcastle upon Tyne, said: "It feels good that I don't have to be self-conscious when I go out. I don't have to feel embarrassed anymore and think 'I don't want to look at myself'.
"It's changed everything. I'll go out more now because I can feel confident and that's an unbelievable feeling. Everybody who I've spoken to has been so complimentary and kind. My head should be massive.
"People have been saying I look 20 years younger, but I've still got the brain of a 78-year-old. My body is old but my hair is young. I've not seen myself look like this for so long.”
Brenda’s husband Brian, 81, was equally gobsmacked at the finished result of the hair system.
"It's like being married to someone 20 years younger. It's a good job I've still got plenty of hair as well.
"[The transformation] is beautiful, so I'm so pleased for her. It's spot on. You couldn't ask for anything better.
"I really got a shock when I first saw her. I found her very attractive. She's not a bad looker, you know?"
The former admin worker believes her hair loss is due to the immune system disorder celiac, which she was diagnosed with in 2017 but claims she's been suffering from for 20 years.
To achieve the new look, a stretchy ‘poly skin’ membrane was attached to her head with double-sided adhesive tape made especially for skin.
It was fitted with existing hair and will last around six months.
