OnlyFans was first launched in 2016, with the original intention for the platform to be a space for performers to provide a variety of types of content for a monthly subscription fee.
But content creators soon started posting exclusive raunchy content on the site and it spiked in popularity as an adult subscription platform.
The platform continued to grow throughout the Covid pandemic too, and now OnlyFans has over 170 million registered users and over a million content creators.
It’s been reported that OnlyFans has paid out over $2billion (£1.6bn) to the platform's creators, meaning that there’s a chance to earn some serious money.
Last year, it was also revealed that top earners on the site make 270 times more money than the average Brit employee. So who are OnlyFan's top earners? And just how much are they making?
American model and TV personality Blac Chyna joined OnlyFans as a creator in April 2020.
The 33-year-old charges a monthly fee of $19.99 (around £16) for access to her account and exclusive content.
She’s now risen to the top of the list when it comes to OnlyFans earners, with an estimated monthly earning of a massive $20 million (£16million).
In 2019 former Disney Channel star Bella Thorne made headlines after she announced her debut on OnlyFans to her Instagram followers.
Bella was one of the first celebs to become a creator on the platform and raked in $1million (800,000) within just 24 hours of creating her account.
But her presence on the platform was subject to controversy, as she was accused of doing damage to other content creators and sex workers using the platform.
After joining the platform Bella announced that she wouldn’t be sharing nude photos.
Instead, the actress and singer chooses to share other types of personal content with her subscribers, including teasers of her upcoming music videos.
OnlyFans users were left angry after Bella’s massive earnings caused a policy change on the platform, with bosses introducing a transaction limit on creator’s earnings.
The change meant that many creators were forced to wait longer to get their paychecks.
Despite the controversy, Bella is still on OnlyFans and has estimated monthly earnings of $11million (£9million).
It seems that the increasing amount of spare time during the Covid pandemic encouraged a number of celebrities to sign up for OnlyFans.
Rapper Cardi B was another famous face to join the platform in the summer of 2020.
Cardi joined the app to address rumours about herself and to share some behind-the-scenes footage from her famous WAP music video.
Despite only posting six times since joining the platform, Cardi has amassed a massive 81million subscribers.
Her subscription fee is lower than many of the other top earners at $4.99 (£4) a month, but she’s still the third-highest earner with an estimated monthly income of $9.43million (£7.7m) from her OnlyFans account.
Media personality and former pornstar Mia Khalifa has over 20 million followers and her OnlyFans profile has been marked as one of the top-ranking accounts.
The top earners mentioned so far have kept most of their content PG-13, but the platform became famous for its adult content and Mia’s is one of the top-earning accounts for this.
She describes her content as “safe for work, but spicy” and brings in an estimated $6.42million (£5.2m) a month from her exclusive content.
Rapper Bhad Bhabie, known for her explosive appearance on Dr Phil, has claimed that she’s made more than $50million (£40m) on OnlyFans.
Speaking to TMZ about how she doesn’t just want to be known for her Dr Phil appearance, the 19-year-old said: “Call me the ‘Gucci Flip Flops’ girl, the ‘Hi Bich’ girl, the girl who got a f***ing million-dollar makeup deal, the girl who made over f***ing $50m (£39m) on OnlyFans.”
And she’s got the receipts to prove it, after making the claim she posted a screenshot of her earnings to Instagram showing that she’d made $52million (£42m) in her first year alone.
