Best Bourbon 2019 | The Sun UK

LOVERS of liquor will normally rank bourbon up there with most top tier drinks.

It boasts a depth of flavour combined with a sweetness that will attract new drinkers and experts alike.

For it to be considered bourbon (and not just whiskey), the drink needs to be made with 51% corn. It also has to be aged in a charred oak barrel.

Due to these rules, Jack Daniel's is not actually a bourbon – it's a Tennessee Whiskey (otherwise it would have made it onto this list).

Another thing to look out for is age. If the whiskey hasn't been aged for over four years, they are required to put the age on the bottle. Most bottles without an age, then, are just over four-years-old – otherwise they'd brag about it on the bottle.

Bourbon is incredibly popular in the UK right now. It has a cheaper price tag than Scotch, with a less harsh and complex palette. The taste is more caramel than honey, for one thing. If you need help finding the right one for you, check out our guide of great bourbons you can buy in the UK.
