Diddy’s son Justin Combs on what his parents taught him about style

Justin Combs may be the son of two certified style stars — Sean “Diddy” Combs and designer Misa Hylton-Brim — but he’s got a look that’s all his own.

“The best style advice [my mom] gave me was just to be free,” Justin, who is studying for his master’s degree in business and working at Combs Enterprises, told Page Six Style at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “The Remix: Hip Hop X Fashion” on Thursday night.

“And definitely pay attention to colors. I like vibrant colors. I like nice color. And just be free and just be yourself and [the look] will come out the way you want it to.”

The fashion advice he received from his famous father was similar; Diddy taught him to “be free with your style and be unapologetically you,” Justin, 25, added.

“To grow up with a mother who stylish and into fashion, I think, has definitely played a big part in who they are,” Hylton-Brim confirmed. She even styled her other two children — son Niko, 22, and daughter Madison, 20 — for the premiere.

“I love color,” the designer and stylist continued. “I like mixing high-end fashion with streetwear and I really do what makes me happy. I go with the flow. My creativity is very intuitive. I love everything I wear every day. I just love my whole aesthetic. It just makes me happy. Style is unique, and there’s no rules. And I never follow rules, so that makes me happy.”

Madison, who is a senior at Howard University studying fashion design, told us that her mother “always told me to really just be myself. Creativity comes from within. Being fashionable, it just comes from within.”

Niko added, “It’s the first thing that speaks for you when you walk in the room. So if you’re going to do it, go big or go home.”

Also in attendance at the premiere were Lil Kim, Mary J. Blige and Cardi B’s sister Hennessy Carolina.
