‘Five things I no longer spend my money on as a 28-year-old, Sanjna said on TikTok
The first thing she said she no longer does is buy new technology when her old model is still working.
Sanjna said she only uses a kindle now because it’s cheaper and space saving
‘I only buy tech if my current tech dies or is affecting my productivity or work flow. The enhancement of each upgrade is always minimal,’ she said.
The most controversial item she no longer buys is books.
‘I don’t have the storage for these anymore,’ she said, explaining that she now only uses a Kindle to read.
‘I can take my Kindle with me in my small bag as well, it’s also cheaper than buying physical books.’
The third thing the finance coach listed as needless and ‘damaging’ expenditure is getting her nails done.
‘This is such a costly, time consuming exercise and most importantly, damaging for your nail health. It’s natural nails moving forward for me,’ she said.
Sanjna also refuses to buy new makeup.
‘I’ll only buy something if it’s finished and I limit my purchases to fit my makeup bag,’ she said.
She explained that she doesn’t even use everything in her makeup bag already so she doesn’t need to buy more.

The final purchase she no longer spends money on is plastic water bottles, she opts for a long lasting stainless steel option instead.
‘I take my stainless steel water bottle with me everywhere that I go, not only is it better for the environment, it’s cheaper and the water actually stays cool,’ she said.
Many people took issue with the fact Sanjna doesn’t see books as a necessary purchase.
‘I don’t agree with books part, sometimes our eyes need relaxation, instead of looking at a Kindle. Reading books is much better,’ one woman said.

‘You lost me at books! I check out as many from my library as possible but I detest e-readers, so I’ll buy a book if I can’t get a physical copy elsewhere,’ another wrote.
Some people also disagreed with nails, explaining that self-care is necessary in their eyes.
‘I cannot not pay for nails. This is the only thing that I will always pay for – manicures, pedicures and brow threading,’ another wrote.
‘I feel good and put together when my nails and brows are done, it’s a self-care thing that I look forward to every month.’
‘This almost feels like a person spending money on getting their nails done is coming off irresponsible which is not fair. Nails and makeup is also a way of taking care of yourself and giving importance to yourself,’ another agreed.
