Fitness model faces backlash after making swimsuit from coronavirus masks
A fitness model was criticised after she fashion a swimsuit out of masks and a respirator.
Yulia Ushakova posed in the DIY bikini amid the coronavirus pandemic.
She struck a pose in the essential medical items, before joking about the two-piece with her 515,000 Instagram followers.
The social media star captioned the image: "I just ordered on AliExpress this trendy swimsuit.
“The built-in valves allows the skin to breath, unfortunately you can’t wear it for more than two hours.
“I don’t know whether this has become a new challenge on Instagram. But I like the idea. What do you think?"
Yulia’s post racked up 9,200 likes – but some aren’t amused that medical masks aren’t being used where they’re most needed.
One commenter remarked: "There is a global lack of masks. This is the worst joke I have seen during these horrible days.”
Another said: "Totally stupid and disrespectful to all doctors and all those who are suffering. Unfollow right away. Enough.”
And a third added: “In the moment when those masks can save a life, this is not the best kind of joke you can do.”
Yulia isn’t the only influencer to spark backlash during the coronavirus pandemic.
In recent days, a former Big Brother star was branded “tacky” and “insensitive” after she posed by empty supermarket shelves.
Meanwhile, the Rich Kids of Instagram continue to flaunt their lavish lifestyle during the crisis.
And these social media stars are using the COVID-19 outbreak as a selfie opportunity, which isn't the most tasteful thing to do.
