Gran with ‘world’s longest ‘nails’ is selling 18ft talons for £35k on Facebook
After spending close to three decades growing the longest fingernails in the world, an eccentric grandmother has decided to sell them.
And for a hefty price too!
Yani Williams, from Houston, Texas, has grown her record-breaking talons to the very impressive length of 38 inches, which is over 18ft long.
The American gran is hoping to fetch £35,000 for her nails and has posted the listing on Facebook.
She decided it was time to part ways due to them getting in the way of everyday tasks.
The 54-year-old says she struggles to drive her car, button up her jeans, and most notably, to inject her insulin as she is a diabetic.
Hairdresser says we've been washing our hair wrong by not cleansing it twice
She said: "I've decided to sell them as I split from my husband six years ago and it's hard with no one around me to help me anymore.
"I have diabetes now and it's hard to give myself injections."
She's only intending to sell the nails for the right price, as she's already have offers but they've been far too low.
The mum-of-five has only had offers of £75 per nail, but explained this wasn't enough: "I won't be cutting them until I get a seller.
"They'll continue to grow until then."
And what does Yani reckon the lucky new owner will actually do with her nails?
"The buyer can put them on as fake nails if they want to", she said.
Yani began growing her nails in 1992 on a whim, and when she started it took time for her long nails to grow on her then-husband.
She added: "At first he wasn't supportive but over time he fell in love with my nails.
"The first thing I noticed as they started to get longer was that I couldn't do the dishes anymore and I needed my husband to help me around the house but it seemed like a small price to pay."
Coating her nails in acrylic to harden them, Yani says it takes up to five days to paint all ten nails a new colour.
In 2018, the Guinness World Records measured her talons, confirming they were a total length of 18ft 10.9in.
The record was previously held by Christine "The Duchess" Walton, who cut her nails which had grown to a total length of 23ft 11in.
Now, Yani's nails are even longer, each nail varying between 28 to 38 inches long.
She said: "It's a misconception that I can't do anything with my nails, there's plenty that I can do easily, I just have to be careful not to damage my nails as I do it."
Over the years, Yani has received a lot of online attention, especially from men wanting pictures of her long fingernails.
Her toenails are long too – over 15 inches – which means she relies on sandals and open-toed shoes.
She explained: "I get requests for photos all the time.
"I have long toenails too and most of them have interest in my toenails."
Yani has made the most of the strange requests, and sent online admirers pictures of her feet for the price of £30.
"At the moment, I'm restricted by my fingernails so I'm looking forward to getting rid of them," she said.
"I want to go into the new year with short nails."
"I can't wait to do things without having to consider if my nails will get in the way," she added.
"I'll be able to play more freely with my grandkids, and hop in the car without a second thought.
"Everything I do now, I do it slowly, I'm looking forward to speeding things up."
