I make all the effort in our relationship – should I dump my boyfriend?

DEAR DEIDRE: I spent nearly £200 on a hotel room for me and my boyfriend but he let me down.

We are a gay couple and I’m 27 and he’s 25. He’s out to some friends but not everyone.

His birthday was coming up so I booked a hotel and dinner but he showed up three hours late, telling me he was sorry but he’d been delayed at work.

We had room service and two bottles of wine but then he fell asleep. He made it clear he didn’t want sex.

DEIDRE SAYS: It doesn’t sound like an equal relationship.

He may not be ready to be seen out in public in a gay relationship but that’s up to him. You should be your partner’s priority though, if you’re together.

Give him a time limit, say a week or so, to make contact and decide if he wants to see you. If he doesn’t come back to you, then you’ll know it’s time to move on.
