Inside BBC Strictly’s Angela Scanlon’s stunning fairytale wedding to husband Roy
Angela Scanlon ’s TV career has been given a massive boost thanks to her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 39 year old Irish presenter is currently starring in the hit BBC One dance show alongside professional partner Carlos Gu. And her stint in the ballroom seems to have worked wonders for her profile – with bookmakers this week making her a favourite to replace Holly Willoughby as host of This Morning.
But Angela, who got her big break in TV as a presenter on Robot Wars and is well known as a reporter for The One Show, still manages to carve out some important family time despite her blossoming career. Last month she shared a snap of her taking some time off to enjoy a family day out with her two daughters, Ruby and Marnie.
Angela, from Meath, shares the two girls with her businessman husband Roy Horgan, from Cork. Roy, who began his career in corporate banking, is currently the UK & Ireland CEO of SES-imagotag plc, a company that designs and markets electronic shelf labelling systems for food and non-food retail industries.
The pair, who currently live in north London, tied the knot in 2014 in a stunning outdoor wedding in Wicklow, Ireland. Although the couple were quite private about the big day, they did share some snaps from the happy occasion.
The pictures showed the couple beaming broadly while holding hands as their delighted family and friends looked on. Angela looked flawless in a simple but stunning boho-style white gown with a delicate gold lace bodice.
She also wore a long veil tucked into her hair and held a beautiful bouquet of pink and white flowers. Roy, meanwhile, looked dapper in a tailored royal blue suit, white shirt and a tie to match Angela’s bodice.
On their four-year anniversary, the presenter shared a stunning picture of them on their wedding day to Instagram, writing: "Four years ago today, I married this absolute nugget of a human under a tree with all our favourite people heckling.
"The kindest, smartest, most stubborn man I know. The yin to my yang. The steak to my tofu (or something)… My [world emoji]."
Meanwhile, in September Angela was forced to apologise after sharing a clip showing her leaning out of a car window without a seatbelt on while dancing to Rapper’s Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. According to reports, she was reported to police over the video.
"I made absolutely the wrong decision when I filmed this video," Angela said in a statement later. "I was coming from rehearsals and was giddy with excitement.
“That’s not an excuse, because what I did was stupid and I’m sorry I let my excitement get the better of my judgement.”
That came after the mum-of-two told OK! of how she manifested the Strictly dream by going down the Jim Carrey route in the 2008 comedy film Yes Man.
"I went into this year with the mentality of whatever is chucked at me, I'll say yes," Angela exclusively revealed. "It’s maybe a bit bigger than I was hoping for but I asked for it, so I’d better go with it."
