Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson is leaving the hit soap, and has already filmed her final scenes.

Although fans of the 33-year-old actress, who plays Nicky Wheatley, may disappointed to learn this, it isn't necessarily a permanent exit.

A source told The Sun Online: “Nicky’s proved really popular with viewers and the bosses absolutely love Kimberly.

“The character has gone off for the storyline to develop but the door is very much open for her return.”

Perhaps the star may enjoy a break from her celebrity, and some time away from our screens considering she recently opened up on some of the abuse she has been receiving at the hands of vile trolls.

Whatever she is off to do next, we are sure she'll be brilliant. Let's take a look at her life away from the screen…

Who is Kimberly Hart-Simpson?

Kimberly Hart-Simpson made her Coronation Street debut as sex worker Nicky Wheatley this year.

And it seems landing a job on the cobbles is something Kimberly had wanted for a while, with the actress having auditioned for a decade for a number of roles on the soap.

Before getting the role as Nicky, Kimberly played Beverley in Hollyoaks, and the actress has also appeared in Sky One comedy Mount Pleasant.

Prior to her stint on Corrie, the blonde beauty took on a range of jobs to pay the bills, including working at Fitness First and in Oldham’s McDonald’s restaurant.

She told Manchester Evening News: “I recently looked through my backlog of Coronation Street auditions and I could have been there for weeks.

“I remember the latest one that I went for was a Lolly, which was Kate’s old friend. At one point I was in talks about playing Maddie but then she was going to be a lot younger and I was slightly over the age threshold for that part.

“There were also quite a lot of one or two episode roles I went for."

She then continued: “After a while I did this bold thing – I don't know if I recommend it for other people to do it – I said to my agent, 'I don’t want to go for any small parts there – will do one or two episode parts anywhere else, I don’t mind. But Corrie, it has to be something substantial’.”

The star, who grew up in Rhyl, North Wales, said of her successful Corrie audition: “I ended up driving a van from Stockport to Ibiza all by myself.

“Then I broke down. It was a bit of a disaster at first. But then I ended up staying out for a season and also went to Dubai. It was a great time.

“I mean, I'll never do that again. But what a great thing to say I've done. That's probably the reason why it worked round this time with Corrie because I walked into that audition and thought, 'whatever you say, I'm already happy and you can’t change that'.

“When you audition it's less about that moment on tape – they want to see the personality of the person they’re going to work with and I think that's really important.

“Are you likeable, can you look after yourself, are you going to annoy people. We spoke a lot about life and about Ibiza as well, when I took a year off from acting to find myself.

“So, having that year away, sitting in sunsets and meeting all the beautiful people set me up for the rest of my life.”

The star is fond of a selfie, and often shares snaps with 12.2K Instagram followers.

Recently, the 33 year old opened up on her weight loss while posing for a mirror selfie in a sports bra and pants.

Back in June she revealed to Lorraine that she identified as bisexual. The star explained she designs her own clothes and made a rainbow dress for Hollyoaks star Jessica Ellis.

She said: “It was during Pride Month, so it was really important, we were representing the LGBTQ community and I’m part of that as well.

“I represent the B. So for me to do that was really, really important."
