I've only ever slept with my boyfriend – will I regret it?

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M a slow starter when it comes to relationships and although I love my boyfriend I can’t help but wonder if I have missed out.

I am 29 and my boyfriend is 32. We have been together for almost ten years.

He was my first boyfriend – the first guy I kissed and had sex with.

My partner had a few lovers before me, so he has “been there and done that” with other girls. He is happy to settle down now.

Part of me constantly thinks about the big wide world I haven’t experienced.

I think about how I have missed out on going out as a single woman in my twenties and casually dating.

I don’t want to break up with my partner as we have a great relationship, but I worry about what will happen if I don’t have those experiences.

Will I be unhappy and wonder “what if” for the rest of my life?

DEIDRE SAYS: If you have a great relationship with your boyfriend, how could having lots of probably poor sex with other guys make you happier? More sex isn’t the same as better sex.

Dating lots of people can mean lots of break-ups and broken hearts, too.

No relationship is perfect. Do you and your boyfriend need to tackle a few issues that may be bubbling under the surface?

But if generally you are good together, count your lucky stars rather than feel you’ve missed out.
