The house is about 11,000 square foot and includes an entrance hall, drawing room, kitchen, family room and dining room and has six principal bedrooms

The drawing room has an 18th century iron fireplace that was admired by poet laureate Sir John Betjeman on his many visits to the property.

And the left wing has been refurbished to create a self-contained two-bedroom annexe which includes a wood-panelled library.

There are six attic rooms currently unused that could allow the property to be further enhanced.

Also within the estate are two lodge houses, one with three bedrooms and one with two, and a one-acre walled garden that has not been used for some time and is now overgrown and in need of some attention.

The equestrian course forms part of the highly successful Chyverton Park equestrian centre with a variety of jumps and obstacles through mature beech woodland. For the past 20 years it has been one of the most prominent, well-regarded and popular courses in the region.

The property can be sold in two lots with 163.6 acres containing the house, its gardens, stable block, lodge houses, equestrian course, pastureland and woodland making up one lot.

And the second lot consisting of 71 acres of mature woodland, level pastureland and the remains of a disused cottage.

Chris Anderson, partner at Carter Jonas Truro, said: ‘Chyverton Estate really is one of the most enchanting properties the county has to offer. It has a magnetic appeal.

‘The grand, light-filled rooms of the main house are complemented by its surrounding parkland. Magnificent oak and beech trees and beautiful shrubs such as camellia, rhododendron and magnolia encircle the property, naturally preserving its privacy.

‘It is little wonder that this is only the second time in its history that it has come on the market. It is a true haven that has been managed in tune with nature.

‘Chyverton presents a unique opportunity to the market. An estate and country house that somehow manages to create a sense of intimacy, one that is befitting of the generations who have lived in and loved every aspect of this wonderful property.’
