Nerd parents are throwing ‘Game of Thrones’ gender reveal parties
You can’t escape “Game of Thrones” in the subways, at parties, in your cab — and now, it seems, even at gender reveal parties.
Online retailer Risen Son Creations, purveyor of hand-crafted gender-reveal dragon eggs, reports that its sales have risen a whopping 750 percent these past few months leading up to the show’s eighth and final season.
The eggs, which of course resemble those belonging to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) way back in Season 1 before her dragons hatched, change colors between red and blue when heated, announcing the birth of a boy or girl.
Some couples are going a step further, giving their kids “Game of Thrones” themed names, such as Arya.
That could get awkward, though: In this, its final stretch, the show has been pushing Daenerys as a possible final villain.
And also, after Sunday’s episode “The Last of the Starks,” there’s now only one dragon left alive. But that’s not stopping countless families from partying on.
The eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” airs Sunday nights on HBO.
