Prince Harry and Prince William Are Fed Up With Feud Rumors: Their Rare Joint Statement Is So Revealing

Prince Harry might have admitted last year that there’s been some tension between him and Prince William but, despite that confession, the brothers are not happy with the way the media has focused on their feud. In a rare joint statement, the brothers addressed one “false story” in particular and made it known why it’s not okay.

Prince Harry admitted that he and Prince William have beenfeuding

During the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry was asked about the rumors of a feud with Prince William and he confirmed that there was some tension between them.

He told interviewer Tom Bradby at the time: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under… inevitably, you know, stuff happens.”

He continued: “But, look, we’re brothers. We’ll always bebrothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always bethere for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me.”

Prince Harry shared that part of their rift is due to their busy lives, noting: “We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy, but I love him dearly. The majority of stuff is created out of nothing.”

“But as brothers, you have good days and you have bad days,” he added.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they’d be taking a ‘step back’

Prince Harry and Markle kicked off 2020 with a bombshell announcement that they will be leaving their royal duties behind. They took to Instagram to share the details of their plan, noting: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

Further, they noted they “plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”

Was Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud caused by the Sussexes’ decision to quit the family?

Naturally, some assumptions were made about whether Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud was in some part tied to the Sussexes’ desire to exit the royal family. If discussions surrounding their plan had been happening for some time, there was likely tension about the move and possible disagreements on the matter between the brothers.

Among the reports after Prince Harry and Markle’s announcement was one that claimed Prince William was “devastated,” with royal expert Katie Nicholl telling ET: “I’m told privately that William is absolutely devastated and quite shocked by this decision for Harry to step down from the royal family.”

Nicholl added: “I think William feels a sense of betrayal byhis brother and possibly a sense of being abandoned too. While Meghan and Harryweren’t the top tier of royals and by that I mean they are not a future kingand queen, you know their importance in the royal family is to not beunderestimated. They are hugely valuable.”

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. Prince Harry and Prince William issued a statement together

In the wake of the reports swirling about their relationship, the brothers issued a joint statement to shut some of the chatter down. Specifically, they appeared to address a report from The Times of London that claimed Prince William had a “bullying attitude” towards Markle.

The statement noted: “Despite clear denials, a false story ran in a U.K. newspaper today speculating about the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge. For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful.”
