Queen displays rare photo of Meghan & Harry despite ‘behind-the-scenes tensions’
The Queen proudly displayed a photo of her grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on a table at Buckingham Palace just days after reports of tension at the couple's final royal engagement.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will quit their senior roles at the end of the month, making their public swansong at the Commonwealth Day Service on Monday.
While the royals were all smiles as they arrived at Westminster Abbey, insiders have claimed there was a lot of upset behind the scenes.
But today the Queen seemed to hint that all is well by putting a photo of Meghan and Harry on display as she chatted with guests at Buckingham Palace.
Dressed in a bold red and pink dress, the Queen met Professor Mark Compton, Lord Prior of the Order of St John.
He he presented the Queen with the Order’s first ever Service Medal in Gold during their meeting.
Photos from the visit show one of the private rooms at Buckingham Palace.
The table behind her features one of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's engagement photos and an old snap of Harry and William in their military uniforms.
While not at first obvious, Meghan and Harry's engagement photo is also on the table, although it's mostly blocked by a plant due to the angle of the camera.
The photo is believed to have been taken when the couple announced their engagement, and has been seen on the Queen's table regularly ever since.
It hasn't been officially released but shows the Duchess in a blue dress leaning into her husband's chest.
The Queen regularly rearranges the photos on her table.
When she formally met Boris Johnson shortly after he was named the new Prime Minister, the photo of Meghan and Harry had disappeared completely – while Kate and William's remained in place.
