Aaron Ramsey apologises to Cristiano Ronaldo for stealing his goal after fans joke he’ll never play for Juventus again – The Sun

AARON RAMSEY apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo after nicking what would have been the Portugal star's 128th Champions League goal.

With just four minutes on the clock in Juventus' clash with Lokomotiv Moscow last night, Ronaldo's free-kick from out wide was fumbled by goalkeeper Guilherme Marinato.

The ball slipped through his legs and trickled towards the goal line.

And as it was just about to go in, Ramsey raced in and booted home to make sure – stealing Ronaldo's goal.

The fortuitous strike would have broken yet another record for the ex-Real Madrid man as Lokomotiv came within inches of becoming the 34th team to concede to Ronaldo in the Champions League.

Ramsey explained: "I thought the keeper was a lot closer to me and had a chance of diving back and maybe clearing it.

"My instinct took over to make sure that it went over the line.

“I’ve apologised to Cristiano."

The Welshman sheepishly ran over to celebrate with his team-mates.

But, predictably, Ronaldo did not look impressed.

And viewers joked the star forward may have Ramsey kicked out the team because of it.

One speculated: "This could possibly be the last night on Earth for Aaron Ramsey. Stealing Ronaldo's goals.

"I've seen him death stare at for simply not passing to him. A stolen goal? It's over for Ramsey."

Aleksei Miranchuk equalised for the hosts after 12 minutes, following up his initial header which rebounded off the post to tap in.

But just as Lokomotiv looked on course to earn a shock draw, Douglas Costa and Gonzalo Higuain linked up in the third minute of injury time with the Brazilian slotting under the goalkeeper to secure the Old Lady's place in the knockout stages.
