    Big Mac Deal

Leeds are trying to swoop for Arsenal target Weston McKennie.

The Gunners have been heavily linked to the Juventus midfielder in recent days but could face competition from elsewhere in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano reports the Yorkshire club are interested in the in-demand American and could rival Arsenal for the move.

Arsenal are set to go head to head with transfer rivals Chelsea over Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners have already lost out to the Blues on Mykhailo Mudryk but will be hoping to return the favour as the two scrap over the midfielder.

The Ecuadorian has proven to be another one of Brighton's shrewd signings when they recruited him in 2021.

The 21-year-old has grown to be a mature and influential midfielder and could be the next star to be sold for big money.

    Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal have joined rivals Chelsea in the bidding war for Brighton star Moises Caicedo.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are plotting a swoop on the Seagulls again.

However, the North Londoners face stiff competition from the Blues as well as Liverpool for the midfielder, who has recently hired a new agent.

Romano tweeted: “Official. Moises Caicedo has picked Futbol Division as new agents — it’s now confirmed by agency statement.

“One to watch in the final days of Jan [January] window — Brighton want to keep him but Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are well informed on Moises situation.”

In fact, Arsenal could hijack Caicedo and West Ham star Declan Rice, both of whom are Chelsea targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Blues poached Mykhailo Mudryk from under the Gunners' noses in January but could be set to taste their own medicine.

Arsenal are interested in signing Caicedo and Rice this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are considering a bid for Juventus star Weston McKennie.

According to Calciomercato, the North Londoners consider McKennie as a potential target that could help them strengthen in midfield and push for the Premier League title.

Bournemouth and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the £18million-rated USA international, who shone at the 2022 World Cup.

This comes amid a turbulent time for Juve, who were slapped with a 15-point deduction by an Italian court.

That is because of capital gain violations involving alleged inflated transfer values registered by the Bianconeri in the past few years.

Finally, Arsenal have handed new January signing Jakub Kiwior the No15 shirt.

Past players to don that number include Denilson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is currently on loan at Southampton.

The centre-back joined the Gunners this month after a £21m deal with Spezia.

The Poland international passed his medical and has penned a contract until 2027, with the option of a further year.

Arsenal have matched Borussia Dortmund's £13million offer for Real Valladolid ace Ivan Fresneda.

Fresneda, 18, is expected to make his decision over the next hours and will be loaned back for the season.

The Bundesliga giants have turned other youngsters into superstars, like Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham

"That was nice, plus he told me to text him if I had any problems or anything like that. I'm really happy to get such a positive reaction right away"

    More from Fabregas

Asked to delve deeper into how exactly Arsenal have changed under Mikel Arteta, Cesc Fabregas added: "Everything.

"The perception of the club in the last few years, a lot of positive messages around the training ground, much bigger facilities, better equipment, pitches, everything you name it.

"I think as well at the entrance they have this symbol of a Premier League where it’s an empty Premier League and he wants to kind of show the message that, 'Guys, we need to just put it in there'.

"So every day the players they go there, they see the Premier League but only being the symbol, so it’s like a message or inspiration every day to go there and prove that you really want to put the Premier League [trophy] in there.

"So I think he’s changed the mentality of the club since Arsene [Wenger] left and it’s fantastic what he’s done"

    Fabregas on Arsenal's inspiration

Arsenal legend Caesc Fabregas has revealed the motivational tactic helping to inspire his former club's title challenge.

Fabregas said: "I was lucky enough to be at the training ground recently.

"And it felt like I’d never been there before because everything had changed so much.

"The manager of the training ground told me that it’s 95 per cent Mikel [Arteta] who has changed the whole thing."

    What the Dec?

West Ham star and Arsenal target Declan Rice plans to stick with the No41 shirt throughout his career despite it being randomly handed to him when he was in the club's academy.

Last year, in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap, he said: "It was just the number I was given in the academy by the kitman.

"When you are in the Under-23s there are the first team squad numbers and then it gets to the higher numbers and I was given 41 when I went to Seattle on my first trip with the first team. I was just given 41 and it has stayed with me since.

"And to be honest with you – I have been having these conversations with my dad – regardless of what happens in my career I may stay with 41.

"I just think Rice 41 has a nice ring to it and obviously I have grown up playing in it and I am a bit superstitious with things like that. I don't know if I change to a new number if it will hamper my performances, I don't know! Sometimes I think about things like that"

The Dagestan star and the striker met at half-time and seemingly chatted about his return.

According to a video circulating on social media, the Brazil international allegedly told Khabib: “Maybe four or five weeks more I come back”

    Home raid horror

Ex-Arsenal ace Sead Kolasinac's home was robbed while his partner and daughter were inside.

The burglary happened while Marseille star Kolasinac was away during the game against Rennes for the Round of 16 of the French Cup.

The full-back was at the Velodrome on Friday when the burglars broke into his home while his partner and their daughter were inside.

The Bosnia international married his wife Bella in 2019 and they have a daughter named Soleil.

The robbery occurred three years after the 29-year-old fought off two moped thugs who tried to mug him and his then Arsenal team-mate Mesut Ozil in North London

    Arteta on Kiwior

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised January signing Jakub Kiwior as he is the type of left-sided centre-back he has long wanted.

Arteta said: "It’s great that Jakub is joining us.

"He’s a young versatile defender who has shown huge potential and qualities with Spezia in Serie A, and also at international level with Poland.

"Jakub is a player who will give us strength and quality to our defensive unit"

    Sing when you're winning

Arsenal have improved almost beyond measure since Mikel Arteta took over as manager and so has the atmosphere at the Emirates.

Match tickets have become harder to come by, with demand growing as the team showed signs of life after years in the doldrums.

Those behind the scenes have actively looked to seize upon the change of mood.

Two-for-one offers on pre-match pints purchased within 60 minutes of the stadium opening have become a semi-regular ploy and prices for booze are down across the board provided fans get in early.

Fans can grab a Budweiser, Camden Hells, Camden Pale Ale or Magners for just £3.95 a pop, provided they are in within an hour of opening time.

Arsenal also saw a huge number of new, younger season ticket holders arrive since last season.

    Petit on Kiwior

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit assessed his former club's latest signings Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior.

Petit told SportingPost: "He can play either midfield or defence. He is energetic and has good technique and he is very aggressive on the ball. It’s difficult to get past him and he always wins the ball. But I’m not sure if he can yet play as a holding midfielder in the Premier League because he’s young and still has to improve.

"Trossard is more mature and has more experience whereas Kiwior is young and he will need time. But he is young like the rest of the team which I think is important.

"This team is very humble, Arteta sent a big message to the dressing room with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang and why everyone needs to be right behind the manager. Why they need to support and understand the rules.

"For me this is very important – when you are a young player coming in, you see how the rules are respected in the dressing room and on the pitch. I think it’s a great time for a young footballer to come into a team like this"

    Saka had Shaw in "chokehold"

Rio Ferdinand says Luke Shaw looked “so apprehensive” against Bukayo Saka in Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal on Sunday, saying the defender was put “in a chokehold” by his countryman.

Speaking on YouTube channel Vibe with Five, he said: “[Saka is the] first player I have seen this season who had Luke Shaw in a chokehold. I said at one point, Luke Shaw does not want to get close.

“I know that feeling when you have someone who is quick and can go both ways, outside or inside, who is rapid and will take the opportunity should you give it to him. He looked like a man who was so apprehensive… I would have shown him down the line.

“I would have never shown him inside. It was probably a mistake from Shaw, who has been excellent this season by the way. I already thought it anyway. But a big game, big stakes, Saka said 'I am the guy'. I loved seeing it even from a Manchester United point of view.”

    Petit tips Gunners for title

Emmanuel Petit beleives the only thing that can stop Arsenal winning the league is injuries.

He told SportingPost.com: "Saka, wow, this guy is amazing. I can name Saka or Nketiah as my standout players [from Arsenal vs United]."

"There were so many questions following Jesus’ injury and Eddie [Nketiah] took over his position and is doing a remarkable job. He scored two well- deserved goals yesterday. The work he puts in, the way he moves, the way he’s always an option for his teammates."

"If you take away those two, then there are three guys who had an important impact yesterday: Zinchenko, Xhaka and Odegaard. When you look at the goals, those guys were always involved in creating danger. Either by movement or passing, I was very surprised, in a good way!"

"I’ve heard the critics, some saying they aren’t going to win the League. If Arsenal keep playing the way they are playing, which they will, I can’t see how they will lose their target. Except perhaps injuries. I think the only team that can beat Arsenal is Arsenal."

    Martinelli backs Trossard to succeed

The Belgian striker produced a bright cameo display when he came on for the final eight minutes of Arsenal’s thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester United at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

    Laura Woods defends Arteta antics

Arsenal fan and broadcaster Laura Woods has jumped to the defence of Mikel Arteta as debate continues over his touchline antics.

The Spaniard was booked for getting overly animated during the Gunners' win over Manchester United on Sunday, with similar incidents unfolding at various points this season.

Woods told talkSPORT: "We've grown up watching Jose Mourinho sprinting up touchlines and screaming at people.

"Pep Guardiola literally kicked a bottle and it hit someone on the bench the other week. It was completely accidental, of course, but he loses his head all the time.

"[Jurgen] Klopp ran onto the pitch and celebrated with Alisson. He literally ran onto the pitch. And guess what, we loved it. We love all of it because it's passion. We always talk about players becoming these robots – don't make the managers do that as well.

"That's the way it works. If he didn't do things like that, people would say he's boring. It would be like 'Mikel Arteta is so uninspiring, he never gives us anything in interviews'. Get over it. If you're genuinely that offended by what he's doing, you're watching the wrong sport."

    Carra tips Gunners for title

Jamie Carragher has named Arsenal as the team he thinks will win the Premier League this season.

He told Sky Sports: "I think the thing with Arsenal is not just the points gap, it’s their performance in big games.

"If you go back to the World Cup finishing, they obliterated Brighton, drew with Newcastle, the best defence in the league, although they only just got over the line (against Manchester United on Sunday).

"We’re all expecting City to kick on, they will, but once they start getting to March and April I cant help but think those City players know that if they win the Champions League it won’t matter that they wont win the league."
