Aston Villa in talks to sign Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin after Benfica transfer collapsed due to failed medical – The Sun
ASTON VILLA are reportedly in talks to sign Mattia Perin after his move to Benfica fell through.
The Juventus goalkeeper, 26, looked set to join the Portuguese side until he failed his medical.
Benfica pulled the plug on the move after it was revealed that his shoulder injury would require four months of recovery.
But according to Sky Sports Italy as cited by Football-Italia, Villa are set to swoop for the two-cap Italy international.
It is reported that Dean Smith's side are in talks with Juventus' director of sport Fabio Paratici.
Perin failed to cement his spot in the Italian club's first-team last season ahead of Wojciech Szczesny.
And a lack of game time has reportedly left him searching for a new club this summer.
He was signed by the Italian giants last year after an impressive spell with Genoa – which saw him keep 46 clean sheets in 151 games.
During his time with Genoa, he was shipped out on loan to Padova and Pescara.

Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan joined earlier this week in a £8million deal from Kasimpasa.
And Villa have completed their tenth transfer of the summer with a £15million move for Douglas Luiz from Manchester City.
