Belmont Stakes 2019 post positions: War of Will draws post No. 9, favorite Tacitus No. 10
War of Will won’t win the Triple Crown this year, but he still has a shot to win his second race of the season.
The winner of the Preakness Stakes will start in the ninth position for the 151st running of the Belmont Stakes.
However, if he were to win on Saturday, he would become just the second horse since 2005 to win the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes after failing to win the Kentucky Derby (Afleet Alex).
This is a feat almost as rare as the Triple Crown over the last 40 years as it has happened just three times since 1994 and just five times since 1978 (Point Given – 2001, Tabasco Cat – 1994, Hansel – 1991, Risen Star – 1988). There have been as many horses to win the Triple Crown as to win just the final two legs of it.
