Bruno Fernandes forced to release angry Cristiano Ronaldo statement after Man Utd star's comments following derby win | The Sun

BRUNO FERNANDES has hit back at claims he took a swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo after Manchester United's stunning derby win.

The midfielder scored a controversial equaliser before Marcus Rashford netted the winner in a 2-1 victory for United.

Ahead of the derby Fernandes spoke about the turnaround the squad had made since the embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Brentford in August.

And after the win over City he reinforced those comments, saying: “[We] used to be individuals, now we are a team. You can see a proper team that works for each other."

Some felt that was a dig at Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club in November – but Fernandes was quick to dismiss the accusation.

He took to Instagram, writing: "Thanks for someone to post exactly the words I said!

"I know that [it] is difficult to see Manchester United doing well and don't have anything to talk about us on the news apart [from] good things.

"Don't use my name to try to attack Cristiano!

"Cristiano was part of our team for half of the season and as I said in many interviews EVERYONE since Liverpool is being amazing and acting like a proper team and you can see the results on that! We carry on."

Since the Brentford loss United have won 12 out of 16 Prem games and are currently on a five-game winning streak.
