Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first person ever to reach 300MILLION Instagram followers – 80m more than rival Lionel Messi

CRISTIANO RONALDO has become the first person ever to reach 300 million followers on Instagram.

The 36-year-old football superstar is the most followed person on the planet a long way clear of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in second on 246 million.

And Ronaldo's great football rival Lionel Messi is 81 million followers adrift of the Portugal forward on 219 million.

Only one account on the social media platform has more followers than Ronaldo's – and that's Instagram itself with 397 million.

Music megastar Ariana Grande has 244 million followers while Kylie Jenner is on 241 million.

Singer Selena Gomez has 238 million people following her account and behind her is Kim Kardashian on 229 million.

Then comes Barcelona forward Lionel Messi with 219 million while Beyonce is next on 186m million followers.

Ronaldo is yet to post about his latest milestone having done so to celebrate reaching the 200-million mark in January 2020.

The Sun revealed how a study suggested that a quarter of his followers back then were 'FAKE'.

It also describes 18.7 percent of his followers as "suspicious accounts", with a further 6.4 percent tarnished as "mass followers" accounts.

HypeAuditor, a site that analyses Instagram and YouTube influencers, describe "mass followers" accounts as those which have followings of over 1500, while using automatic tools to follow/unfollow.

These accounts do not see influencers' posts.

Instagram bots, as you'd expect, are defined as "suspicious accounts" – as well as those that use specific services for likes and comments – as well as people who purchase followers.

But Ronaldo's mega following means he has potential to earn a whopping £780,000 per post, another report by HopperHQ said.

Ronaldo's massive influence was shown again this week when he moved a Coca-Cola bottle at his Euro 2020 press conference.
