Giants waive undrafted Syracuse long shot Eric Dungey

Eric Dungey’s long-shot attempt to make the Giants is over before he could even get on the field at training camp.

The former Syracuse quarterback who was given a look at tight end was waived Wednesday. The Giants signed Dungey as a free agent after he was not selected in the  2019 NFL Draft.

“We were kind of all over the board probably until Tuesday late afternoon,” Dungey’s father Tim told Syracuse.com at the time of the signing. “[Pat] Shurmur called Eric, and they had a long conversation and he made Eric feel pretty good.”

In a corresponding move, the Giants signed tight end Isaiah Searight.  The Fordham University alum entered free agency after an injury settlement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May. He reverted to injured reserve after going unclaimed on waivers.
