Leeds transfer news: Todd Cantwell leads Said Benrahma in crop of five Championship stars on Whites' wishlist
LEEDS UNITED spent in the region of £100million in what looks to be a successful transfer window but their business may not be over just yet.
The Whites have until to October 16 to poach players from the Football League, giving them a chance to sign Norwich ace Todd Cantwell and Brentford star Said Benrahma.
Despite the Whites' swift business, they appear to be light in central midfield after their move for Michael Cuisance fell through.
Leeds were excited by the arrival of Cuisance but the former Bayern Munich man failed his medical and eventually joined Marseille before the deadline.
Meaning Cantwell and Benrahma would fit the bill as they are both capable of occupying central roles in Marcelo Bielsa's fluid system.
Cantwell is the favourite in Ladbrokes' market – making him the most likely star from the Championship to join Leeds in this window.
Todd Cantwell – 3/1
The Norwich star is priced at just 3/1 to join Leeds before the end of the transfer window.
The midfielder is believed to have attracted plenty of interest after strutting his stuff in the Premier League last season – scoring six goals and providing two assists.
Cantwell is a cheaper option after they were priced out of a move for Udinese's attacking midfielder Rodrigo de Paul.
Said Benrahma – 8/1
Benrahma is the second favourite in bookie's market – Leeds showed early interest in the window which went quiet as they worked on other moves.
There's no doubting his ability as he is regarded as the best player in the Championship by some distance after starring last season.
His form last term led to Chelsea being strongly interested in him, before signing Kai Havertz.
The other three aces in the market are Bournemouth's David Brookes, Watford's Ismaila Sarr and Huddersfield's Karlan Grant.
They are all players who would fit Bielsa's system, but their prices are much bigger as Leeds are in no rush to strengthen their frontline or their wingers.
Also Bielsa is notorious for having a core group of 22 players, which he relies heavily on, rather than having a big squad at his disposal.
