Man Utd become favourites to win Europa League ahead of Tottenham after Champions League exit

MANCHESTER UNITED are favourites to win the Europa League after they were dumped out of the Champions League.

The Red Devils missed out on the knockout stage of the Champions League after finishing behind PSG and RB Leipzig in this season's 'group of death'.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men lost 3-2 to Leipzig, after conceding two early goals.

But just a day after being dumped out of the Champions League, the bookies are backing United for glory in the Europa League.

The Red Devils are 5/1 favourites as they join Premier League rivals Tottenham, Arsenal and Leicester in the secondary tournament.

They have leapfrogged Spurs in the market who trail them as second favourites at 6/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Man United fans may still be thinking about the bad news, but every cloud has a silver lining and as things stand they've jumped straight to the head of the Europa League betting."

  • Man United – 5/1
  • Tottenham – 6/1
  • Arsenal – 7/1
  • Leicester – 10/1
  • Milan – 10/1
  • Napoli – 12/1

Arsenal (7/1) and Leicester (10/1) trail United and Spurs in Ladbrokes' Europa League outright winner market.

While Italian giants AC Milan and Napoli are close in the running.

Harry Maguire insisted United weren't ready for Leipzig in the early stages of the game.

He told BT Sport: "We started the game too slow. It wasn't good enough.

"The first 20 minutes we weren't at it. They put two balls in the box and we failed to deal with them.

"We have to look at ourselves, we gave ourselves too much to do. You've seen how close we came at the end but we started too slow and we can't keep falling behind.
