Pep Guardiola in boost as record-breaking coach Carlos Vicens agrees to STAY at Man City after deal to move collapsed

PEP GUARDIOLA has received a boost as record-breaking coach Carlos Vicens is now set to stay with Manchester City.

The champions announced last month that the set-piece expert would leave the Etihad in the summer to take charge of Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

However, after they were surprisingly relegated at the end of last season, the contract has now been ripped up.

And City were only too pleased to have him back after the impressive stats the first team achieved last season.

They scored 21 goals from set-pieces and conceded only one – making it the best set piece goal difference in the history of the Premier League.

Heracles chief Nico-Jan Hoogma said: “Carlos was given the opportunity to return to Manchester City and we do not want to deprive him of that.”

On the player front, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Etihad striker Raheem Sterling.

The England star, 27, has one year left on his City contract deal and has been linked with a move abroad.

City have already signed two forwards in Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.

And chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak expects two more arrivals.

He said: "In Haaland we have arguably the best No 9 in the world at the right age.

"And in Alvarez I think we have found one of the most talented young strikers in South America.

"But I can confirm that there will be more players coming in."
