Premier League 2020-21 title odds: Man Utd and Liverpool odds take dramatic 24 hour shift after Reds beat Tottenham

LIVERPOOL have stormed back into contention for the 2020-21 Premier League title, according to the bookmakers.

The Reds had gone five Premier League games without a win, failing to score in four of those matches.

But Thursday's impressive 3-1 victory over Tottenham has forced Betfair to slice their odds on Liverpool successfully defending their crown.

Jurgen Klopp's side were 7/1 after seeing their 68-game unbeaten home league run end with a shock defeat by Burnley.

But having moved to within four points of 3/10 leaders Manchester City, they are now available at 4/1.

However, their gain is Manchester United's loss.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were second favourites after an impressive transformation that saw them undefeated since November 1.

But their shock defeat to rock-bottom Sheffield United at Old Trafford have seen their odds of winning the league plummet.

In fact the odds have DOUBLE from 6/1 before kick-off against the Blades to a double-figure 12/1 after defeat and Liverpool's success.

What a difference a day makes…

Old Trafford hero Rio Ferdinand thinks Liverpool are still well in contention to win the title.

He told BT Sport: "I think Liverpool definitely needed this result.

"Everybody has been on their case. Is their season over in terms of challenging? I think they’ve answered that emphatically tonight.

"Yes, they were given some gifts tonight but you’ve got to be there to take them and they’ve punished this Spurs team and Liverpool are going to be there or thereabouts."

Peter Crouch added: "I believed in them when they were going through this bad spell.

"I had a little bet with Rio last night, I still think they’ll finish above United, I think they’re still in the title hunt.

"When they’ve got the attacking talent they have on display, you cannot write them off.”
