Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s agent hints at Lazio transfer for Chelsea star as he admits Maurizio Sarri ‘is a fan’ of midfielder | The Sun

CHELSEA midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is reportedly interested in swapping Stamford Bridge for Serie A with Maurizio Sarri "a fan" of the England international.

That is according to the 26-year-old's agent Jonathan Barnett who has revealed that his client would be willing to depart West London.

Despite appearing in 40 games last season under Thomas Tuchel, Loftus-Cheek has been linked with a move away.

A switch to Italy has been rumoured, with Lazio claimed to have targeted the player last year after Sarri was appointed in Rome.

The transfer failed to materialise, but it has been said that the Stadio Olimpico outfit have retained their interest in the player.

Loftus-Cheek is rumoured to have been identified as a possible replacement for Serbian star Sergej Milinkovoc-Savic.

It was reported last month how the ex-Fulham loanee is pushing to leave this summer with Sarri keen for a reunion.

Loftus-Cheek enjoyed the most prolific season of his career under the tutelage of Sarri during their only year together in the 2018-19 campaign.

He chipped in with ten goals and five assists in 40 matches in all competitions as he helped the Blues win the Europa League.

And his representative Barnett has revealed Loftus-Cheek would be open to playing abroad, though he played down talk that Chelsea andLazio are in negotiations.

He told Il Messagerro: "Lazio have not spoken to Chelsea as far as I’m aware.

"But Maurizio Sarri is a fan of Ruben [Loftus-Cheek] and he likes Serie A. Let’s see what happens."

Speaking in January 2021, Loftus-Cheek, who is also on Inter Milan's radar, hailed Sarri as the most influential manager of his career to date.

Explaining why, he remarked: "I felt like he was truthful with me. At the start, I wasn’t playing.

"He told me why and said if I want to play, I have to do this and that gave me something to work towards and eventually I started to do what he asked and I played.

"That gave me confidence to know that if I keep doing that, I’ll keep playing. Then you start to get more understanding of the game.

"I played in an eight role, with one deep, so I had the licence to go forward and affect the game in that way.

"I felt that was a good season and in my head after that season I was like ‘we kick on next season’, but obviously got the bad injury which halted my progression, but now it’s time to build up again."
